We take care to reduce, reuse, and recycle every step of the way, from the way we prepare our Balanced Seed, the packaging and distribution of our treats, where we source our raw ingredients, and the cleaning products we use.
In the kitchen, we raw dehydrate our ingredients at 185 degrees in the convection oven instead of freeze-drying. Freeze-drying is an energy intensive process and consumes 1.7 x the amount of heat compared to raw dehydrating. Raw dehydration also preserves the vital nutrients in La Pet-isserie.
La Pet-isserie comes packaged in 100% recyclable glass Mason jars, therefore reducing our use of plastics. For every 10 Mason jars you bring back to our store, you receive 10% off your next purchase at La Pet-isserie.
The company car is a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid model which has a gas and electric engine, therefore reducing our carbon emissions.
All our natural ingredients for our treats come from farmers in the Hudson Valley. Supporting local farmers also helps to eliminate jet fuel, a huge energy guzzler, which would be used if our ingredients came from all over the country.
All cleaning products we use are non-toxic and earth-friendly. These include Seventh Generation, Dr. Bronner’s, and Method brand.
