HELP! I NEED A TRAINER.

Unlock your dog’s inner Zen. “Dominance” has become somewhat of a “dirty word” in dog training circles in recent years because of its association with unnecessary (and counterproductive) negative punishment. However, we understand that true “dominance” (in the dog world, at least) instead refers to a healthy, synergistic relationship based on mutual trust, respect, and service. Differences in hierarchy are determined more by intelligence, tenacity, and the ability to inspire followership than by power and brute force alone. Let us teach you how to become your dog’s guide, teacher, protector, and provider – in that order. That is the only way to achieve the “perfect dog experience” you seek!

  • HOURLY SESSIONS

    PRIVATE IN-HOME (1-HOUR MINIMUM)

“The “Intro Course” is “mandatory,” in the sense that none of our other training services will become available to you until we complete a full, 4-hour, introductory training course together. This ensures firstly, that the trainer and the pet parent can “get on the same page” and avoid “cancelling each other out” as the dog’s training progresses. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, it gives the dog an opportunity to build trust and familiarity with the new handler (with his/her pet parent present for emotional support) before being whisked away solo, for any extended time, by an otherwise “total stranger.” This avoids creating unnecessarily negative emotional associations with separation from the pet parent(s), or interactions with other “strange” humans, generally. • HALF DAY SESSIONS

    SMALL GROUP TRAINING (4-HOUR MINIMUM)

We hold “small group training” sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12 pm to 4 pm. Pricing includes pick-up and drop-off. The format is designed to include 30- to 45-minute intervals at 3 to 4 different locations, per session. These can vary from larger, county, dog parks, to agility courses, to hiking trails, to dog beaches. We work with each individual client to give every new addition to our groups extra special attention until they reach superstar, veteran status. The main goal is to provide controlled, positive conditioning and desensitization training by maximizing new people, dogs, places, things, loud noises, etc. Remember that in nature, your puppy would not be interacting with such novel (and therefore risky, or sometimes downright scary) stimuli without “the power of the pack.” To find out more about “SGT”’s special benefits, click “Learn More.”

  • FULL DAY SESSIONs

    INTENSIVE REHABILITATION (4-NIGHT MINIMUM)

24/7 Intensive Rehabilitation, at the trainer’s home, is most appropriate for dogs exhibiting severe behavioral issues (like food aggression) or long-standing, seemingly “unfixable” problems (like chronic house-soiling). Often, these dogs simply need a total re-set, in a new environment, with a new handler, to snap them out of their old patterns. Off-site training is also the most time-efficient solution for more basic but time-consuming areas, like potty-training or separation anxiety (which generally require diligently managed interval training) for busy, working pet parents or for inexperienced puppy parents who simply lack confidence in their own skills. The service includes tutorial videos of any useful “trainable moments” (re-titled and organized by training topic); a complimentary 30-minute“check-in” phone call at the end of each day; and free pick-up and drop-off.

  • TELE-SESSIONS

    REMOTE TRAINING (4-HOUR MINIMUM)

Tele-sessions are the most flexible form of training, and customizable to each individual client’s needs. Whether it is obtaining proactive consulting on choosing the right dog to bring into your family, or troubleshooting a specific behavioral issue, or making any other dog-related, general inquiry, we are here to help!
